Year 7 PHSE Talk

Useful tips for eating a balanced diet were given to Year 7 during a PHSE session.  Laura Sanchez Behar, a nutritional therapist, stressed the importance of eating less sugar and making sure that at least half your plate consists of fruit and vegetables.

Her interesting power point presentation helped to explain the food’s journey through the body and the risks of obesity. Mario in 7K was shocked to learn that American children are not living as long as their parents.

Pupils also learned that 80% of American foods contain sugar disguised in 56 different names such as Maltose and Diatose.  Given that in this country we tend to follow America, these are worrying trends!  Laura finished with a clear warning to avoid energy drinks such as Red Bull which are diuretics and have worrying side effects.
