A Visit from Dylan

Pupils were very excited yesterday to welcome a couple of lovely guests into Normanhurst. During assembly we were visited by the founder of last year’s school charity, ‘Dylan’s Story’, Danielle Myers and her son Dylan.

Seven year old Dylan has a condition which means he has the mind and body of a baby yet doctors are simply unable to diagnose him. Dylan has spent his life in and out of hospital under over 40 health professional receiving treatment for a list of health complications including organs which are mirrored on the opposite side of his body, apnea attacks, seizures, arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease amongst other issues. Dylan is a SWAN (Syndrome Without A Name).

Over the past year Normanhurst has been raising funds for Dylan’s story. These funds came from the infant play collection, carol service, cake sale, programme sales, non uniform day, raffle, an international food tasting event and several sponsored walks. We were very proud as a school to present Dylan and his mum with a cheque for over £4000. This money will go towards building a sensory room for Dylan.

Thank you for everyone’s donations!
