High-Five Netball

Headline News: the Years 5 and 6 High Five squad won the London Borough of Waltham Forest tournament on Thursday 26 January.  In a very competitive event they finished champions and now have won a place to represent the borough at the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace. What a fantastic achievement.

A group of pupils from Years 4 – 6 attended a High-Five Netball course at Chingford Foundation School on Wednesday 28 September. This will enable Normanhurst to participate in the Borough league and maybe, if successful , to represent the Borough in the London Youth Games.
High Five is a variation on Netball which involves a rotation of players so that pupils learn to play in all positions on the court. Normanhurst played against Parkside School and won all three matches.

Junior School Sports Day 2011

After arriving at Picketts Lock, the children made their way to their respective waiting areas and decorated themselves with the pre-made badges and banners showing support for their teammates.  Race after race, the children's enthusiasm was contagious and the parents soon found themselves joining in cheering for both houses.

The children ran well, right to the end, and the score was tight all the way through.  At the end of the day the result was announced - Connaught House won for the Juniors!  Children congratulated each other and finished with a huge cheer as the cameras clicked away.

Senior School Sports Day 2011

Highlights of the Senior School sports day included the Year 7/8 boys' 800 m with Jack looking very much like the winner on the homeward stretch, when Rehaan used his final energy reserves to pip him to the post despite Jack putting up an amazing battle to retain the lead.

The Year 9/10 boys' high jump also proved to be sensational with Liam jumping an impressive 1.50m to win the event for Warren, with Chide and Casey finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The Year 9/10 girls' 800m was a spectacular sight, as we witnessed a strong sense of camaraderie, as both girls and boys irrespective of age or house joined Isobel and Sienna on the track to support them as they competed against each other.  Even Mrs Jerrom joined in the sense of occasion and completed the final lap linking hands with many of the Year 10 girls as they crossed the finish line together.  Isobel went on to win despite waiting at the half was mark for her friends to catch up.

Congratulations go to Warren, the winning house this year with 118 points, closely followed by Connaught with 99 points.
