Year 9 DT and Year 10 Art and Graphics Joint Trip

The Art department took 38 Year 9 and 10 pupils to the Barbican Art Gallery to see the ground-breaking exhibition of the work of Jean Michel Basquiat. It was a rare opportunity to explore the artist in the biggest ever UK exhibition of his work.

Basquiat was a major forerunner of the contemporary street art movement, which pupils are researching in lessons. The coach even detoured on the way home to see the new work by Banksy that responds to the exhibition.

Year 9 and 10 will use their responses in lessons to develop their own individual artworks and designs.
