Year 5 Trip to Pole Hill

On Friday 19 October Year 5 went on a trip to see the Pole Hill Obelisk. At the top of the hill, the class found out that the obelisk was erected in 1824 and it was placed on the Greenwich Meridian line to indicate true North. The spot was chosen as it is the highest point on that bearing directly visible from Greenwich. They learnt a lot and also had time to play in the forest.

“I learnt that Lawrence of Arabia had a house near the Obelisk and I enjoyed getting to have some playtime outside of school” – Poppy
