Year 6 Evacuee Visitor

Mr Brencher, who was only 3 and a half during the evacuation during the war, visited Year 6 in order to share his story with them. He stayed with his foster family for 6 years, which was longer than he had spent with his parents! He was taken to Southampton by train and went to Oxford from there when where he lived was bombed.

His story made the class think a lot and you can read a diary entry that they have written using the information they recorded during Mr Brencher’s visit on the Year 6 displays. The children asked a lot of questions and collected notes in order to help them write their diary entry. Mr Brencher also brought some evacuee outfits for Year 6 children to try. His story made us laugh as well as think how the children at the time were affected by the war.
