Year 6 Garden Centre Challenge

In Science, Year 6 learnt how to classify plants into groups such as fern, moss, conifer, flowering plant and algae. They then used their critical thinking skills in order to classify plants in a different way so that they could design a garden centre. Year 6 considered different things such as the amount of light and water they will need. They also considered elements like open / closed roof and transparent / opaque windows. The class designed their garden centre layout accordingly by putting different classes of plants in different parts of their centre. The groups of plants varied based on the needs of the plant.
