EGGsperiment

Pupils took part in a fascinating experiment in class using eggs and a range of everyday liquids such as water, coke, vinegar and orange juice. The children filled a glass with each of the liquids and added an egg, and then observed what would happen.  After a while in the liquids, it was incredible to see that the vinegar had dissolved all of the shell, reacting the most, and the orange juice and coke eggs were not far behind. The water, however, left the eggs untouched.

Eggs were used as the egg shell is very similar to tooth enamel, so it was a good way to see what drinking too much of each liquid can do to our teeth!
