The Life Cycle Of A Butterfly With Year 5

Pupils in Year 5 had the wonderful opportunity to witness the life cycle of a butterfly as one of their many Science Week activities. The kit came with some tiny caterpillars in a pot with their food, and after a while, the caterpillars will make their way up to the top of the container to transform chrysalis, but not before they have grown TEN times their original size! It is now the waiting game until they transform into a beautiful Painted Lady Butterfly and Year 5 get to see the miracle of metamorphosis up close!

Once the butterflies emerge, they can be kept for a short while for the pupils to observe before they are released out into the wild. The inclusive nature of this wonderful activity has greatly added to the learning experience of the children, and we are all very excited for the transformation!
