Year 1 Become Palaeontologists For The Day

In Humanities Year 1 learnt about the famous Palaeontologist Mary Anning and how she found dinosaur fossils. They looked at fossils of a prehistoric mammoth, and even became Palaeontologists themselves for the day.

They were given 2 frozen dinosaur eggs, a wooden chisel, some salt, cold and warm water. Each team was challenged to ‘excavate’ their dinosaur fossil in the quickest time using the equipment provided. It was so interesting to see how the salt melted the eggs!

To conclude the dinosaur afternoon, they completed some dinosaur yoga. It was a brilliant day!
